The museum is situated in Bureau Street, Humansdorp. This museum is a huge source of the history of the 1800,s. The history of ship wrecks, cultures, medicinal plants, heritage etc, is available for public knowledge. This museum is assisting researchers and students with information.
Visitors can trace the growth and development of Humansdorp through displays of farming implements, photos, clothing and crockery. Take special note in the pantry for insight into traditional uses for medicinal and culinary herbs.
The museum needs to be extended in order to host more information on Jeffreysbay and other heritage and cultural exhibitions. The extension of the museum is still in a discussion stage. The idea is to have a multi cultural exhibition under one roof and to become a major tourist attraction.
The Municipality needs to keep on supporting this museum as the history of the Kouga is secured in this building. The curators assist to keep the present exhibition as a showcase and inform the world about our roots.
The land is sufficient for such an extension of the museum into a state of the art attraction.
